Killian The Assassin by Wendy L Anderson : A Book Review

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Blurb:

Blurb: Assassin, thief, arrogant rogue…

Pagan drumming in Killian’s veins would never let his sword fail or his heart stop thirsting for blood. It felt as if the old gods gathered around him, waiting for blood to spill.

Killian the Assassin has been hired to guard the daughter of a wealthy Lord. Blackmailed into going on a perilous journey over treacherous seas, and among violent mountains, he faces danger and demons. Fighting the bloodlust that always follows him, Killian discovers a lonely, innocent girl who did not betray, but has been betrayed. She deserves love and protection, but is he the one to give her what she needs?

Tainted by the need for salvation, driven by sword lust, darkness follows them both as together they become the first in the Legends of Everclearing.

Killian the Assassin! He’ll double-cross you, bed your wife, and steal your gold, all with a smile.

Follow Killian the Assassin on his journey in this new fantasy series, the Legends of Everclearing!

This new series does not just a revisit the best of the Kingdom of Jior fantasy series but is addicting, with new characters, and heart stopping adventures!

My thoughts: FIrst of all, I just want to apologise for the late review. I know in my last post I said you would have it that same week but as you all know, life gets in the way. Now, let’s get back to the review…

HOLY SHIIIIIIIIIT! What an amazing book! I just can’t even begin to tell you how incredible it was to read this MASTERPIECE! All of Wendy Anderson’s books are works of art, I’m telling you now but let’s just focus on the gem that is ‘Killian the Assassin’.

Killian is, as the blurb dictates, an assassin, a thief, and a rogue. He’s arrogant too! I can see all you readers shaking your head and thinking, well if he’s so arrogant then he’s not for me. I know what you mean, arrogance can be a write turn off but the way Killian carries this arrogance is just something to behold. It’s sexy, it’s a turn on… it makes you bite your lip and want to devour the next man you see (thankfully, that was my fiance and not my creepy next door neighbour).

Lady Pearl is Killian’s love interest in this outstanding novel and she was a character I loved straight away. Such a beautiful, gentle soul who’s situation is rather tragic. She is quite a naive character in the beginning but her personal growth as the story progresses is *chef’s kiss*.

For me personally, side character’s are just as important as the main characters. Side character’s are so important to the story but if they’ve not been developed enough by the author, then their appearance in the stoty can fall flat and can harm the novel as a whole. Of course, Wendy Anderson smashed it once again by creating a villainous love interest that makes you feel fearful in his written presence, a Lord who is such a complete and utter t**t that I am still gritting my teeth at how much of a bellend he is, and, a character so handsome, so… *grabs hold of laptop screen and shakes it*… perfect in everyway that he makes me want to jump into the book and pull him back through to my bedroom. Never fear, this character WILL be getting his own book which I thank the gods for because I need more!!

The world that has been created here is just astounding. I could see it infront of me like I was travelling with Killian and company. Not only the scenery but the characters too, I honestly could see it all like I was watching a Netflix series.

One thing I absolutely loved about this story is that it wasn’t just, ‘oh, here’s the one plot which we are going to follow and that’s it’. No, there were several different plot lines all weaved intricately into each other. I just absolutely loved it.

I’d always recommend that you read the Kingdoms of Jior series before this book, ONLY because it is so INCREDIBLE and will introduce you to the world of Jior. However, the beauty about Killian the Assassin, and something I find to be an amazing talent, is that although it is set in the same ‘world’ as the Kingdom of Jior books, the author has managed to give you all the information you need throughout the story so you could read this book with no previous knowledge of the world or the Ny-Failen and completely understand it.

Killian the Assassin should be released on the 31st March 2022. I will post a link as soon as it becomes available. You all really need to read this incredible book.
